The Surf Lodge
This weekend we ventured to Montauk to the Surf Lodge. We enjoyed a lobster roll and glass of rose while listening to G. Love. The surf lodge offers indoor or outdoor seating in a laid-back and beachy environment. We preferred sitting outside at the low tables. For Top Chef fans, the chef at the restaurant is Sam Talbot, the semi-finalist in season 2! In addition to being a bar and a restaurant, the Surf Lodge is also a boutique hotel with 24 rooms that each has a private sundeck. We recommend making the trip to the Surf Lodge whenever you’re looking for a beach get-away! The Lot
A perfect pit stop on a hot summer day: The Lot under the High Line Bridge on the corner of West 30th and 10th Avenue. Also, The Lot on Tap, an outdoor bar that’s a bite away from a handful of food trucks serving up delicious fare. Try lobster rolls from Red Hook Lobster and tacos from The Taco Truck. While you’re there, check out Rainbow City, a collection of colorful, inflatable sculptures by FriendswithYou. A playground for the kid in all of us, let us know what you think! Andy Warhol Monument
Andy Warhol's art fetched millions of dollars at auctions last month including a $27 million sale of "Liz #5." Totally smitten with Warhol, we've created a collection of neon, pop art-inspired necklace that will surely add pop to your summer wardrobe. For a true Warhol moment, check out the life-size monument outside his old Factory studio in Union Square on 17th and Broadway by Rob Pruitt. Warhol said, "Everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes, but he's a definite exception to that rule. High Line
The second phase of the High Line is open-- just in time for the beautiful, warm weather! This glorious elevated park, which boasts viewing platforms, a sundeck, and exhibition places, now stretches from Gansevoort to 30th Street. Our favorite spot is the viewing platform called the "30th Street Cut-Out." Also happening at High Line this weekend: performances of Roof Piece, by the Trisha Brown Dance Company. The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum is having an exhibition, "Set in Style," featuring timeless pieces from Van Cleef & Arpels. Van Cleef & Arpels, which opened its first boutique in Paris in 1906, is known for dazzling royalty and celebrities (think Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Grace Kelly) with its spectacular jewels. Lucky for New Yorkers and visitors alike, The Cooper-Hewitt has extended the exhibition until July 4th. Watch CBS News "Sunday Morning" program before you go: http://bit.ly/mUwFJQ It combines two of our favorites things: museums and jewelry! |
